History of Druitts Solicitors in Bournemouth

Druitts Solicitors was established in 1837 by James Druitt Senior. He relocated to Bournemouth from Christchurch where he had been practising law with his family. Bournemouth as a town was in its infancy and was beginning to become popular with the fashionable well-to-do as a healthy holiday resort.

Established

Druitts established by James Druitts Senior.

1867

Small Beginnings

James Druitt admitted as a solicitor and begins work at Druitts.

1892

Law Society

James Druitt Senior becomes the first president of the Bournemouth and District Law Society and founding member.

1904

Takeover

James Druitt Junior takes over Druitts.

1906

New Offices

Borough Chambers was built by James Druitt Junior.

1917

New Partnership

The firm registered as J and WH Druitt when James Junior went into partnership with his brother W. Harvey Druitt.

1929

Second Takeover

James Druitt retires and Druitts is taken over by his sons James Victor Druitt and Geffry Tremenhere Druitt.

1939

World War 2

GT Druitt was called up to serve in the 2nd World war leaving the practice to be run by O G Vernon. OG Vernon also oversaw Norris and Golbert Solicitors in the area.

1944

Third Takeover

OG Vernon purchased Druitts from J V Druitt and G T Druitt. He practised in Partnership with AWG Lockyer.

1969

Expansion

The Third Floor was built on Borough Chambers.

1970

New Name!

J and WH Druitt became "Druitts"

1973

Aquired!

Victor Horsfall-Turner – OG Vernon’s Son-in Law acquired the practice.

2002

Chris Clifford

Chris Clifford became partner, OG Vernon’s Grandson and Victor Horsfall-Turners Nephew.

2010

New Partnership

Victor Horsfall Turner Retired and Chris Clifford became a partner with Kay Donalson.
